Mt-Nixon trail. Trailhead 500 yards from the chalet.
The area offers endless opportunities for day hiking or longer back-packing treks.
At the chalet
You have an excellent access to hiking in the Mont-Tremblant provincial park right from the bottom
of the driveway! Take a right at the end of the driveway and continue to the end of the road
(there's a private road that goes off to the right). You are now at the entrance to the park.
From here, you can continue on the main trail, which will bring you to the riverside, and further on,
to some wilderness lakes. Or, you can take the trail just before the sign at the entrance that goes
up Mont Nixon. This steep, 8 km trail leads you first up le petit Mont Nixon before heading to the
larger mountain, where several lookouts will take your breath away (3 to 4 hours). You can shorten
your hike by just climbing the petit Mont Nixon and then following the signs for the Boulé parking lot.
Mont-Tremblant provincial park
Of course, there are many other hiking options in the area. If you enter the park by the main entrance,
several hiking trails are accessible from the service center at Lac Monroe and along the road before
and after the center. To get there from the chalet, turn left from the driveway then right onto chemin
Tour du Lac. At the end of this road, turn right. Follow this road until you enter the park. For more information
visit the Mont-Tremblant website.
UQAM nature center
You can also visit the UQAM nature center. To get there, return to chemin Lac-Supérieur and turn left. Continue on chemin Lac-Supérieur for 2.5 km then turn left onto chemin du Nordet. 1.7km later turn right on chemin de la Boulé (also called chemin du Lac-Quenouille). The nature center will be on your right one kilometer down this road.
Visit the center's website for more information.
